- The Atlanta Phoenix Pen
-
In the spring and summer of 1864, the Union Army led by General William T. Sherman laid siege to Atlanta. The city was finally captured at great cost in lives; a conflagration destroyed about 90% of the city. The dwelling at 225 Moore Street, however, withstood the fire’s wrath and the military occupation; the walls of the stable still stand as a symbolic reminder of the sturdy heroism of the city’s defenders. In the years following the war, Atlanta rose phoenix-like from the ashes of defeat.
In honor of that spirit, The Circa History Guild has acquired some of the wood from the original structure on that site and our master craftsman has created one of the most beautiful pens in the world. This limited edition fountain pen is reminiscent of the sturdy writing instruments of the 19th century. The wood from which the pens are made was 400 years old when the building was constructed in the early 19th Century. The beautiful grain of the wood spirals through the barrel, and the gold nib makes the writing flow smoothly, as your great- great grandparents would have recognized and appreciated.
Our Atlanta Phoenix Pen is crafted in three sizes with roller-ball or fountain pen nib. Whether you collect beautiful pens as a hobby or buy them for writing, our five hundred year old writing instrument will become a family heirloom with a story, a story of perseverance against great odds.
