Mark your calendars for Thursday night, April 8th, as Mr. Arnold Whittaker, a combat veteran of the Second World War, brings a program to The Circa History Guild on his experiences as a member of Company K, 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Army Division under General George Patton. A descendant of Brigadier General Walter Whittaker, a hard fighting Union General in Gordon Granger’s Division, Army of the Cumberland, Mr. Whittaker carried on the family tradition against Germany in the Battle of the Bulge and across the Rhine in 1944-45. The magnificent 5th Division took huge casualties in the war but caused more than they received. It is believed that the last American combat death in the War was incurred by the 5th.

Well known in the Atlanta area for his lively talks, Mr. Whitaker, grandfather of local home-schoolers , will delight the whole family with his stories of life in the hard-fighting “Red Diamonds.”
