Our next lecture program will be held on Thursday, June 17th, at 7:00 at The Guild (8480 Holcomb Bridge Rd.). The speaker will be Lt. Col. Josh Batchelder, USAF (Retired) and his topic will be “The War that Never Happened.” Colonel Batchelder is the author of Black Watch Diary, an account of his service during the 1950s defending the northern borders of the Republic from potential Soviet air strikes during the Korean War and the “Cold War.” His contributions to national security continue in a recent sequel to his first book detailing the actions of the all-weather flying of the F-94 Starfire and F-84 Scorpion.
Josh is an excellent speaker; be prepared to laugh out loud and shake your head at the exploits and tribulations of a mostly un-sung group of cowboys in dead earnest to protect the United States over the frozen wastes that lead to the Soviet Empire. It has been a few weeks since our last program so we expect to see everyone here for this event—if all thousand of the folks on our mailing list come, we will have to adjourn to the parking lot, but so what?
As usual, members attend for free, guests pay $5.00. Col. Batchelder’s books will also be available for sale.
